Classic German chocolate cake topping
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
Prepare the German chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions, using eggs, water, and oil.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool slightly.
Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes all over the cake.
Mix the melted butter and brown sugar together and pour over the cake.
Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the cake, making sure it seeps into the holes.
Sprinkle the chopped pecans and flaked coconut evenly over the cake while it's still warm.
Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, toast the pecans and coconut before adding them to the cake.
