Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes smooth and lump-free
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

For the Chicken Filling

  • 1 cup cooked, shredded chicken
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup cheese (optional) cheddar or mozzarella

For Frying

  • 2 cups oil for deep frying

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix mashed potatoes, flour, baking powder, egg, salt, and pepper until a soft dough forms. If needed, add a little more flour.
  • Sauté garlic and onion until fragrant. Add shredded chicken and season with paprika, cumin, and black pepper. Stir in cheese if using. Let the mixture cool.
  • Take a small portion of the dough, flatten it, and add a spoonful of the chicken filling. Seal the edges and shape it into a doughnut. Repeat with the remaining dough.

  • Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
